Autodesk announces 2013 DEC software portfolio

Autodesk Maya 2013 Viewport 2.0 enhancements screenshot Autodesk announced the 2013 versions of its Digital Entertainment Creation (DEC) software and suites, used by leading artists working in film, game development, television and advertising. The 2013 products have been updated to offer new creative toolsets, more interactive viewports and workflow enhancements: Maya 2013 delivers new toolsets for dynamic simulation, animation and rendering. In addition, the new Open Data initiative offers tools to help facilitate parallel workflows and better complexity handling. 3ds Max 2013 delivers ActiveShade support in the NVIDIA iray renderer; a new render pass system; and enhanced interoperability with Adobe After Effects and Adobe Photoshop software (more). Softimage 2013 contains a new high-fidelity interactive environment and a new CrowdFX simulation feature set, along with enhanced modeling, animation, physics, and selection tools. MotionBuilder 2013 brings a new nonlinear editing paradigm for virtual production; the option to record live motion capture data directly to disk; a flexible new HUD (heads-up display); a floating viewer and support for broadcast WAVE files. Mudbox 2013 software helps artists create complex production-ready scenes with greater ease, with the Gigatexel engine and the ability to work efficiently with significantly more objects. In addition, Mudbox 2013 offers new multipurpose curves, support for edge sharpness data and enhanced interoperability with Adobe Photoshop software. Autodesk also announced the 2013 version of its Flame Premium software, which combines high-end visual effects and finishing tools with real-time color grading in a single solution. The 2013 version features more creative and technical tools for advanced compositing and 3D relighting; interactivity enhancements in Action module; improved 3D tracking workflow; and enhanced grading capabilities including new color grading presets. Autodesk also extended its suites offering with the new Autodesk Entertainment Creation Suite Ultimate edition, which contains both 3ds Max 2013 and Maya 2013, together with Softimage 2013, Mudbox 2013 and MotionBuilder 2013. NUKE 9 arriving in November 2014

Foundry NUKE 9 video The arrival of NUKE 9, the biggest ever shake up of The Foundry's NUKE technology, including the brand new addition of NUKE STUDIO, is just weeks away. The offering brings powerful node-based VFX, editorial and finishing into a new single studio application, as well as provides core upgrades to the advanced compositing workflows of NUKE and NUKEX. NUKE STUDIO empowers creative individuals working independently, as well as collaborative teams working on quick-turnaround projects, in a way that's previously never been possible. In addition to NUKE STUDIO, NUKE 9 brings fantastic performance and feature updates to the compositing system present across the entire NUKE range. These include a Native Flipbook tool for NUKE and NUKEX; huge performance improvements that cover not only overall NUKE performance but specifically the EXR reader, Deep EXR reader, Particle system and Scanline renderer; enhanced 2D format support; and cutting edge retiming updates. NUKEX and NUKE STUDIO also include an overhaul to the Planar Tracker, to include a new region tracking algorithm; and significant updates to the Vector Generator, Motion Blur and KRONOS tools, with the addition of a new motion estimation algorithm based on OCULA technology. Artists and studios will be able to get there hands on NUKE STUDIO either as a standalone license or part of the Production Collective, which will change to include NUKE STUDIO, MODO and MARI from release of NUKE 9. There will be upgrade paths from both NUKE and NUKEX as well as a range of different ways to buy. NUKE 9 will be available by the end of November 2014.
