Digieffects to upgrade plug-ins with v2.5 soon

Digieffects Damage After Effects Premiere Final Cut plug-inDigieffects, makers of visual effects plug-ins based in Wilmington, NC, announced it will soon release updates to all three of the Digieffects plug-in packs - Buena Depth Cue (for After Effects), Delirium, and Damage (both compatible with After Effects, Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, Edius, Quantel). Version 2.5 should add compatibility with Apple's Final Cut Pro X editor, latest operating systems, and Adobe CS 5.5 applications. All the updates should be available this week. [source]

Autodesk announces Maya 2016 Extension 2 and 3ds Max 2017, acquires Solid Angle

Autodesk 3ds Max 2017 screenshot At NAB 2016, Autodesk, Inc. announced the latest versions of its subscription-based 3D animation software, including Maya 2016 Extension 2 and 3ds Max 2017. Extension 21 for Maya adds new capabilities for creating 3D motion graphics via a procedural, node-based workflow; updated render management; and new character creation workflows with a new quick rig tool and shape authoring enhancements that allow artists to create, rig and animate characters faster. New 3ds Max 2017 offers artists a fresh new look as well as modeling, animation and rendering enhancements, including a new UI with support for high DPI displays; fast, physically-based renderer Autodesk Raytracer Renderer (ART); and additional updates, including UV mapping, object tool and animation productivity enhancements; a scene converter for moving from one renderer to another or to real-time engines; and tighter pipeline integration via an improved Python/.NET toolset. 3ds Max 2017 and Maya 2016 Extension 2 are available now. Autodesk has also announced it has acquired Solid Angle, developer of Arnold, an advanced, ray-tracing image renderer for high-quality 3D animation and visual effects creation used in film, television and advertising worldwide. Acquisition terms were not disclosed. Also of note is a new cooperation between Autodesk and Google Cloud Platform to deliver scalable compute services for its M&E software. The two are launching a new cloud-optimized ZYNC service for Autodesk Maya 2016, which will allow users to render 3D scenes created in the software on the Google Cloud Platform. [source]
