FaceFX 2010: New stand-alone and plug-in versions

OC3 Entertainment FaceFX 2010 screenshot OC3 Entertainment released FaceFX 2010, new version of its Windows-based facial animation system for game developers an professional animators. FaceFX now comes in several different flavors: the full middleware solution FaceFX Unlimited 2010 for games is licensed per-project and includes unlimited seats of FaceFX Studio Professional, the FaceFX in-game SDK, batch processing support, and more. The stand-alone FaceFX Studio Professional is now offered on per-seat basis at $1995 US and offers audio analysis tools for automatic Lipsync functionality, curve editor and visual workspaces with sliders for animation tweaking, animation blending, scripting tools and more. Also new are the FaceFX plug-ins for animation packages that provide basic facial animation and lip sync functionality, all from within Autodesk 3ds Max, Maya, MotionBuilder, and Softimage software. The plug-ins are priced $199 US each. MOTU debuts Digital Performer for Windows

MOTU Digital Performer 8 screenshot MOTU has unveiled Digital Performer version 8, a major upgrade to their flagship audio workstation software. Digital Performer 8 will be available for both Mac OS X and Windows 7 systems (32- as well as 64-bit versions), and will add many new features, including a new video playback engine, Punch Guard confidence recording, 14 new user interface themes, and 15 new included plug-ins. Among the plug-ins to be included with DP8 are two new classic guitar amp models, a bass cabinet model, several classic guitar pedals, modeled analog delay, a multi-band dynamic equalizer, a de-esser, the Subkick kick drum enhancer, and Springamabob, a modeled vintage spring reverb processor.
