Photoshop CS4 with Content-Aware Scaling and GPU acceleration
24.09.2008

After the first introduction at Photoshop World 2008 (
more), Adobe finally officially unveiled upcoming versions of its flagship image editing applications,
Photoshop CS4 and
Photoshop CS4 Extended. Photoshop CS4 comes packed with
Content-Aware Scaling algorithms to intelligently size and scale images based on their content; GPU hardware acceleration enabling smooth smooth pan, zoom, and
Canvas Rotation; enhanced Auto-align and Auto-blend modes; simplified image
Adjustments; and
more. The Extended edition adds the ability to manipulate 3D imagery (
paint directly on 3D models and surfaces, merge 2D files onto 3D images and animate 3D objects); stack multiple medical image scans (DICOM) into a single volume; more efficient single-key shortcuts,
etc. Feature-wise, both editions are compared in this
comparison table. For more information on products' features, read Adobe's
What's New PDF document.
New Photoshop CS4 for Mac OS X (on Intel-based and PowerPC systems) and for Microsoft Windows XP and Windows Vista platforms (32- and 64-bit) are scheduled to ship October 2008 with ESPs as follows: $699 US for Adobe Photoshop CS4 ($199 US for an upgrade) and $999 US for Photoshop CS4 Extended ($349 US).
