Simpsons 500th episode launch party Sunday, 19 February 2012 marked a huge milestone for the popular cartoon series The Simpsons with airing of its 500th episode! The Simpsons are currently in its 23rd season, making it the longest running sitcom and scripted television series in the U.S. Toon Boom Animation Inc. announced that the creators of this ground-breaking series use Toon Boom technology to bring it to the screen. "Toon Boom's connection with The Simpsons began around five years ago and continues to this day, with each episode making use of our technology. Blender Foundation 2.62 screenshot UV mapping stitchingBlender Foundation released an RC version of its popular open source 3D software Blender. This version comes with a completely modernized Mesh system, Bmesh. It supports N-sided polygons instead of only triangles and quads, and features a new Dissolve tool to remove vertices, edges and faces without making holes in the mesh, a new Inset tool to inset faces, and a much improved Knife tool which takes advantage of N-gons to generate clear cuts. Tools such as subdivide and loop cut will also generate clean topology because faces no longer have to be triangulated (more).
