Third incarnation of ThinkingParticles for 3ds Max now available!

Third version of this famous rule-based particle system for Max comes with enhanced user interface, Memory Node ("...that allows the storage of any kind of data with an adjustable amount of storage depth per variable"), new and enhanced Dynamic Nodes, Vertex To Particle node creating particles on vertex positions, additions to the Geometry Instancing functionality, new Debug Option, AGEIA PhysX support, enhanced ShapeCollision engine, TD-Tool (allowing Technical Directors to setup complex particle systems exposing only the parameters needed for animators), and other new features. Guillermo del Toro to direct 'The Hobbit'

The Hobbit Guillermo del Torro Movie Peter JacksonVariety reported that director Guillermo del Toro has signed on to direct two prequels to the 'Lord of the Rings' saga - 'The Hobbit', and its as of yet unnamed sequel taking place in the 60-year period between 'The Hobbit' and 'The Fellowship of the Ring' events. Guillermo del Toro will move to New Zealand for the next four years to direct both films, with Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh acting as exec producers (and, probably, script writers.) Jackson’s WETA facilities will deliver visual effects and post-production services. [source]
