Blackmagic Micro Cinema Camera photoBlackmagic Design announced several new products at this year's InterBEE in Tokyo, Japan. For a January 2018 release, Blackmagic Design slated a DeckLink 8K Pro PCIe capture and playback card featuring Quad-Link 12G-SDI supporting all film and video formats from SD all the way up to 8K DCI, with 12-bit RGB 4:4:4 sampling and support for advanced color spaces such as Rec. 2020. Blackmagic Design's converter lineup saw the release of new broadcast-quality 6G-SDI Mini Converters for converting SDI to HDMI and HDMI to SDI, and new lower-cost USB-powered Micro Converters, repacked without the power supply so customers can use the power supplies they already own. And lastly, the new Blackmagic Camera 4.7 Update for Blackmagic Micro Studio Camera 4K and Blackmagic Micro Cinema Camera adds new video formats, dramatically improved sensor performance, new gain settings, RAW output via SDI, and new control options for operating the cameras remotely. VENICE, Sony's first 36x24mm FF digital motion picture camera

Sony CineAlta VENICE photo Sony unveiled VENICE, its first full-frame digital motion picture camera system. VENICE is the next generation of Sony's CineAlta camera system, designed to expand the filmmaker's creative freedom through large-format, full frame image capture of filmic imagery with natural skin tones and expressive dark areas. The camera combines a newly developed 36x24mm full-frame sensor and compatibility with a wide range of lenses, including anamorphic, Super 35mm and full-frame PL mount for a greater range of expressive freedom with shallow depth of field. The lens mount can also be changed to handle E-mount lenses. User-selectable areas of the image sensor allow shooting in Super 35 mm 4 - perf. Future firmware upgrades are planned to allow the camera to handle 36mm wide 6K resolution. Fast image scan technology minimizes the so-called "Jello" effect, and a new color management system and wide color gamut gives users more control and greater freedom to work with images during grading and post-production. Panasonic AU-EVA1 photo sidePanasonic disclosed additional information, including pricing and specification data, about the upcoming AU-EVA1 5.7K hand-held cinema camera. Previewed this spring at Cine Gear Expo, the EVA1 will ship this Fall with a suggested list price of 7,495 USD. Technical specifications now include a pixel count of 5720 x 3016 (17.25 million), confirmed Dual Native ISO ratings of 800 and 2,500, and 14-stops of dynamic range. With an active resolution of 5720 x 3016, the EVA1 delivers more than 17.25 million photosites, nearly double the 8.8 million for 4K DCI (4096 x 2160). By starting at a higher native resolution, the 5.7K sensor yields a higher resolving image when down-sampled to 4K, UHD, 2K, or even 720p.
